It is a lot more versatile than you might expect. I wear mine around the house, in the boudoir, and even to the job site: The double-ply leather and riveted construction provides a little extra protection, if you know what I mean, and it looks a lot sharper than a traditional cup or codpiece. You can probably also wear it underneath your jeans or slacks, although if you want a less ostentatious look, I'm sure there are cheaper, less elegant alternatives on the market. I also find this leather kilt indispensable around the kitchen. Layered with a pair of Elegant Moments CHAPS, this kilt will keep you protected from bubbling soups, sizzling bacon, and everything in between!

Which, apparently, is about 75 bucks.

All kidding aside, this leather kilt is worth every penny. I loved the first edition (bought 4) and this is actually an improvement. First, it looks more like a kilt and less like a skirt than the older model! (Not that that's a huge problem.) The new addition of pleats adds the "kilt look and feel" to this product. The material (a relatively heavy brushed nylon)l seems more rugged than the previous model too. I like the color "otter" - looks like military olive green. It doesn't draw as much attention as its tartan cousins. "Oh, I just realized, you're wearing a kilt!" And, there are now two relatively large cargo pockets. The bonus of both this kilt and it's predecessor is that the brushed nylon cloth makes it LOW MAINTENANCE. Unlike other kilts, this kilt can be rolled up and stuffed in your backpack - try that with most other kilts! I've got several brands of kilts, this is my choice for a daily, low maintenance, outdoorsy kilt. And did I add the "freedom factor" a kilt has?

This kilt is a revision of the “Mountain Kilt” by Mountain Gear. Why else would the opening (in front) be in a place where it is unusable by any male in the standing position. Now pull them down and sit down and everything is fine, but then why have an opening at all? Compared to the access issue the pilling problem is minor. Also, they look really sexy on a woman and seem to be a better overall fit. They are very well priced. That wasn't an issue I cared about and sewing the opening in in a better location would not change the cost of production so it is no excuse, but at least when you toss them out you don't get a lump in your throat the way I did when I tossed out my $50 English boxers for the same reason.

I think that these boxer shorts were probably designed by a woman. These are junk! These are the worst quality, thinnest, inconsistent sizing, weird colors, poorly made, and just not worth the money. It's better to pay more money for quality, comfort and better fit. The fabric has a strange itchy sensation, and sometimes there is a small fragment of a twig or a piece of a leaf weaved into the fabric. Sometimes the fabric bunches up in a really uncomfortable way. Some batches are better than others. Some of them just bunch up under your jeans and feel terrible! Many of these were purchased and thrown out in the trash after only wearing them once. Sometimes the elastic band is way too tight, or becomes excessively loose after a few washings. Some little bumps form inside the elastic band, that creates spots of itchiness all around the elastic band. Unbelievable how bad the quality is. This company has really gone down from its original standards. Just buy it and see for yourself, and you too will decide never to buy Fruit of the Loom products ever again!

How is it possible to make the fabric so thin and still not have it fall apart?
